Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Bassett announced on Monday the addition of women’s golf as a varsity sport, with the team to begin competition in the Spring of 2010. Erie, Pa. - Senior Tim Martins (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) shot a one-under par 143 to place second as the Le Moyne College golf team finished in sixth place at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational at the par 72, 6,468-yard Downing Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. Indiana University of Pennsylvania won the team competition by six strokes with a total score of 588, with Brad Boyle leading the way with a 142 to take medalist honors. [more]

Bernardston, Mass. – Senior Tim Martins (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and sophomore Kevin Jackson (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) tied for 11th place to lead the Le Moyne College golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at the par 72, 7,007-yard Crumpin' Fox Golf Club on Sunday and Monday. The Dolphins, who won last year’s Championship, finished the tournament with a 634 on rounds of 328 and 306. Adelphi University, competing in the Championship for the first time, won the team title with a two-round score of 620. Southern New Hampshire’s Shane Winslow earned medalist honors after outlasting Adelphi’s Stuart Pulkinen in a three-hole playoff. [more]

Oakdale, N.Y. - Senior Tim Martins (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) finished second in a field of 80 golfers to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a fourth place finish at Dowling College's September Shootout at Long Island National Golf Course on September 27 and 28. Wilmington University won the team competition with a two-day score of 598, paced by player Dan Ott who recorded a two-day score of 139 to finish with top individual honors at the tournament. [more]

Bloomfield, Conn. – Sophomore Anthony Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) fired a 151 to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a fourth place finish with a two-day score of 613 at the inaugural Northeast Intercollegiate Championship on Sunday and Monday at the 6,711-yard, par-70 Wintonbury Hills Golf Course. American International won the team competition with a two-round score of 591, led by Gregory Strattner and Kevin Daniels finishing for a tie at the top with a two-round total at 144. [more]
