GOLF: DOLPHINS CLOSE OUT FALL SEASON WITH SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT
MERCYHURST INVITATIONAL
Erie, Pa. - Senior Tim Martins (Cortland,
N.Y./Cortland) shot a one-under par 143 to place second as
the Le Moyne College golf team finished in sixth place at the
Mercyhurst Fall Invitational at the par 72, 6,468-yard Downing Golf
Course on Saturday and Sunday. Indiana University of Pennsylvania
won the team competition by six strokes with a total score of 588,
with Brad Boyle leading the way with a 142 to take medalist
honors.
Martins, one of only two golfers in the tournament to shoot par or
better each round, carded a one-under 71 on the first day to end
the round in a tie for third place. Martins closed the tournament
with a 72 to move up the standings. Junior Andy Lloyd
(Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) finished in a tie for 21st with a
score of 153. Lloyd tallied a 75 in the first round and a 78 on the
second day. Sophomore Chris Sova (Oswego,
N.Y./Oswego) shot a 156 on rounds of 80 and 76 to tie for
31st. Senior Brian Tischler (Westlake, Ohio/St.
Ignatius) registered rounds of 81 and 77 for a 158 to
place in a tie for 38th, while sophomore Anthony Viskovich
(Massena, N.Y./Massena) rounded out Le Moyne's competitors
with a 161 to tie for 44th.
Le Moyne, which posted rounds of 302 and 303, finished in the
top-seven in each of the six tournaments it competed this fall.
