DAN MCCARTHY NAMED NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE GOLFER OF THE WEEK, TIM MARTINS GARNERS TOP FRESHMAN HONOR
EASTON, Mass. - Le Moyne College senior Dan McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Golfer of the Week, while teammate Tim Martins (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) has been named the league's top freshman.
McCarthy topped the field at the St. Thomas Aquinas Fall Invitational. He shot a three-over par 147 at the Phillip J. Rotella Golf Club in Thellis, N.Y. with scores of 74 and 73 to win the event by two strokes. McCarthy has won three tournaments this fall. He also captured the Colgate Invitational in Le Moyne's opening weekend and was the individual medalist in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. He has posted a stroke average of 73.0 in 12.5 rounds of golf this fall.
Martins, the Northeast-10 Conference Golfer of the Week last week, shot a nine-over par score of 153 to finish in a tie for seventh at the event. Martins has posted a stroke average of 76.3 in 13.5 rounds of golf this fall.
Martins and McCarthy helped Le Moyne to a fifth-place team finish at the St. Thomas Aquinas Fall Inviational which was won by the host institution.
