Le Moyne to Host Eighth Consecutive Northeast-10 Golf
Championships
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - For the eighth consecutive season, Le Moyne College will host the Northeast-10 Golf Championships. The two-day tournament returns to the Links at Sunset Ridge in Marcellus on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
Le Moyne looks to post a strong finish and this year hold off the field, which includes Bryant University, who they fell to in a tie breaker last year. Bryant won its 20th Northeast-10 Conference Championship last year, and will look to continue their dominance on the links.
Defending champion Joe Tesori (DeWitt, NY) carded a one-over 145 (69-76). He was the third Le Moyne golfer to be crowned conference champion. Dan McCarthy (Syracuse, NY) looks to improve on last years third place three-over par (72-75-147) performance.
Tesori and McCarthy are two of the seven returning golfers who placed in the top ten at last years championships. Also scheduled to return to the Links at Sunset Ridge to compete for the title of Northeast-10 Champion include Brenden Smith (74-72-146) of Bryant, Chris Menne (76-74-150) of UMass Lowell, Jamie Bacon (73-78-151) of Saint Rose, Mark Halibozek (71-81-152) of Assumption, and Ryan Stewart (76-77-153) of Bentley.
At last year's championship Le Moyne (609), and Bryant (609) dominated the field as the next closest team, Southern New Hampshire (620), finished eleven strokes behind the leaders. Southern New Hampshire was followed by Saint Anselm (625), and Saint Rose (628) to round out the top five.
The Northeast-10 Conference sponsors 23 championship sports, and
includes 15 full-time members. The Northeast-10 Conference is
the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the
nation and sponsors the most championships of any Division II
conference.
Golfers tee off in "shotgun" starts on Saturday at 1 p.m. and
Sunday at 8 a.m. Results will be available after the conclusion of
play each day at www.lemoynedolphins.com .
