HAMILTON, N.Y. – Le Moyne College junior Dan McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) carded a one-under par 143 (72-71) to win the Colgate Fall Invitational. Le Moyne finished in a tie for 10th among 16 schools at the season-opening event.

The only golfer to finish under par, McCarthy followed up an even-par 72 Saturday with a one-under 71 on Sunday. He nipped Lehigh’s Max Muller by one stroke to capture medalist honors.

Muller paced Lehigh to a team title. The Mountain Hawks teamed for a score of 602 (294-308) to edge St. Francis by two strokes. Bucknell finished third followed by Cornell, Colgate A, Rochester and Niagara tied for sixth, Ottawa was eighth, Rider ninth and Le Moyne and Canisius tied for 10th with 629 totals. Hamilton was 12th, Fordham 13th, Colgate B 14th, Wagner 15th and Lafayette rounded out the field.

McCarthy, the Syracuse Post-Standard Amateur Champion this summer, has finished atop his last two collegiate tournaments. He tied for medalist honors at the NCAA Regional in the spring.
