BASEBALL HALTED BY RAIN AFTER FOUR INNINGS AGAINST AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College baseball team had its game against American International College rained out after four innings on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division play at Dick Rockwell Field. The game, which Le Moyne leads 3-0, will be resumed on Wednesday, April 24 at American International.
The Dolphins scored all three of their runs on three hits and an American International error in the bottom of the second inning. Senior third baseman Zack Wiley (Toluca Woods, Calif./Crespi) reached on a throwing error by the third baseman to open the frame. After Wiley stole second and cruised to third as the pitch got away from the catcher, senior right fielder Kody O'Connor (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) blasted a two-run home run down the left field line. After a groundout, senior catcher Brian Stinson (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) reached on a broken-bat single down the third base line. After Stinson took second on a wild pitch, freshman shortstop Dylan Swetman (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) laced the ball through the pitcher's legs to drive in Stinson.
Senior Casey Cannon (Manasquan, N.J./Saint Rose HS/Delaware) struck out five over the four-plus innings that were played, while allowing two singles and two walks. Daniel Guerrero had allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits through four innings, while striking out one.
On April 24th, the game will resume with the Yellow Jackets batting in the top of the fifth inning and a runner on first base with zero outs.
Le Moyne (10-17, 4-7 NE-10, 2-3 SW) will return to the diamond on Saturday for a single game at the University of New Haven at 3:00 p.m.
