BSB: CHRIS EDMONDSON EARNS ALL-INDEPENDENT TEAM HONORS FOR
SECOND CONSECUTIVE SEASON.
FARMVILLE, VA - Le Moyne junior Chris Edmondson (Johnson
City, NY / Johnson City) earned All-Independent Team
honors for the second consecutive season. The Independent Player of
the Year last season, Edmondson earned second team honors in
’09 following a 24-23 campaign. Voting was conducted among
both head coaches and sports information directors at the 16
Independent schools for selecting the 2009 Division I
All-Independent Baseball Team.
Second on the team in batting with a .322 average, Edmondson led
the Dolphins in all major power categories with 13 home runs, 46
RBI and a .644 slugging percentage. Dating back to last season,
Edmondson has connected for 27 home runs which is the most in a
two-year span in program history.
Dallas Baptist University shortstop Ryan Goins (.371, 22 HR, 70
RBI) was selected as the Player of the Year, Bryant University
right-hander Eric Polvani (8-2), 2.04 ERA, 79.1 IP, 58 K) was
chosen as the Pitcher of the Year, Dallas Baptist coach Dan Heefner
(38-17 overall record) is Coach of the Year, and Utah Valley
University outfielder Bill Burgess (.381, 8 HR, 42 RBI) was picked
as the Newcomer of the Year.
