In the second inning, Matt Serna walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. After Jason Ganek walked, Ryan Boss singled back to the pitcher and advanced to second on a throwing error, allowing Serna to score from second.
The Dolphins regained the lead in the top of the third, but the Flames countered in the bottom half of the frame with three runs to take their first lead. Marra singled through the left side with two outs. After advancing to second on a passed ball and moving to third on a throwing error by the catcher, Marra scored on a wild pitch. John Rosinski led off his team's half of the third with a single to right center and came around to score on a double down the left field line by Chris Rutta. Steven Humble then singled through the right side to push Rutta to third. Serna followed with a single up the middle to knock in Rutta and advance Humble to second. Following a sac bunt, Boss grounded out to third to push across Humble.
UIC increased its lead to 6-3 with a run in the fourth inning. McGuiggan singled up the middle to lead off the frame and stole second and third around a ground out. Rosinski then singled through the left side to drive in McGuiggan.
Le Moyne took the lead with four runs on two hits and two errors in the fifth inning. Sophomore designated hitter Matthew Ciraco (White Plains, N.Y./Perkiomen School) reached on an error to start the inning. Marra then reached on a fielding error by the shortstop to knock home Ciraco. Senior first baseman Rich Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) then blasted a three-run home run to right center to give the Dolphins a 7-6 advantage.
The Dolphins added a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Wiley singled and stole second to lead off the frame. After a strikeout, Ciraco singled through the right side to plate Wiley. Edmondson then doubled to right field to push across Ciraco.
After a scoreless seventh inning, Le Moyne tacked on three runs on two hits in the eighth inning and one run on two hits in the ninth. Wiley walked and Botsford singled through the left side to open the eight inning. After a Ciraco sac bunt and an intentional walk to Edmondson, the eighth of his career, Wiley scored on a passed ball with Botsford and Edmondson each moving up a base. Following a line out, Marra singled through the left side to drive in Botsford and Edmondson.
