CHRIS EDMONDSON TIES A SEASON RECORD FOR HOME RUNS AS THE DOLPHINS TAKE TWO FROM IONA

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Sophomore Chris Edmondson connected for his 14th home run of the season in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Iona on Thursday. In game one, the Dolphins pushed across two runs in the ninth for a 3-2 victory. The Dolphin bats ignited in game two as every position player recorded a hit in a 10-2 victory. With the two wins, the Dolphins improve to 30-20 on the season. This marks the sixth time in seven seasons Le Moyne has recorded 30 wins or more in a season.

In game one, the Dolphins struck for two runs in the top half of the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie as Robby Perez scored on an Iona fielding error to push across what was the winning run as Le Moyne captured the 3-2 victory. Following his no hit performance on Saturday against Rider, junior Eric Beaulac pitched seven strong innings, holding the Gaels to three hits, one run. He struck out 12 in the game to become only the second Dolphins pitcher in program history to record more than 100 strikeouts in a season. The season record is held by Bobby Blevins ’07 with 104 strikeouts.

Brandon Otto picked up his fourth win of the season in relief pitching the final two innings. At the plate, the Dolphins were led by Perez who connected for two hits and added an RBI and a run scored.

Le Moyne used a six-run outburst in the fifth innings to cruise to a 10-2 win game in the day’s second game. Edmondson led the way at the plate going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five runs batted in. Edmondson’s home run tied him with David Smith ’93, Andre Enriquez ’04 and Scott Edwardsen ’00 for the program’s single season home run record with 14.

Corey O'Neill, Matt Nandin, Phil St. Amant and Alex Del Valle each added two hits each to pace the 14-hit attack. Lefty Luke Nellis earned his fourth win of the season pitching six innings, scattering nine hits to allow one earned run. Nellis added six strikeouts on the afternoon.

The Dolphins wrap up their series with Iona on Friday with a single game beginning at 11:00 AM.
