O’NEILL, AMANT, AND EDMONDSON PRODUCE EIGHT OF THE
TEN DOLPHIN’S RUNS IN 10-9 VICTORY OVER BUFFALO.
SYRACUSE, NY-Junior Brandon Otto picks up his second win of the
season. Otto went two innings allowing two runs on one hit. It was
a collective effort for Coach Owens’s pitching staff, using
six pitchers in relief. Sophomore Luke Nellis closed the game for
the Dolphins, and earned his second save of the season. Offensively
the Dolphins were led by left fielder Chris Edmondson. Edmondson
drove in four RBIs with his 2-4 performance at the plate. Both hits
came off of home runs. The Dolphins improve to 9-12 with the win.
The Bulls fall to 5-15 (0-3 MAC).
The production came from the 3-4-5 hitters in Owens’s lineup.
O’Neill, Amant, and Edmondson contributed six hits on
thirteen plate appearances, producing eight of the ten Dolphins
runs.
The Bulls would quickly score two runs in the top half of the first
on a Rob Mancini double over the head of Sean Paino in centerfield.
The Bulls would tack on another run with a Chris Ciesla RBI
groundout to shortstop. The Dolphins would promptly answer back,
regaining a three-to-two lead in the bottom half of the inning. The
Dolphins would start their offensive attack by a double down the
leftfield line by Matt Nandin. Corey O’Neill’s two run
blasts and Edmondson’s solo homerun would generate the
Dolphins runs.
Edmondson would follow his second at bat with his second home run
of the game, this time a three run blasts. The Dolphins would pick
up four more runs in the inning expanding their lead 7-2. The
Dolphins would expand their lead 9-2 before the Bulls would
respond.
Brian Randazzo, and Rob Mancini would deliver RBI singles in the
top of the fifth. The lead would be cut 9-4. Crawford’s RBI
double would produce the last Dolphins run in the bottom of the
fifth.
In front 10-5, heading into the sixth inning, the Bulls would claw
their way back into the game. The Bulls would hit three home
runs in the last four innings generating seven runs. Chris
Ciesla’s two run homer off of Mike Anarumo would bring the
Bulls to within one (10-9). Nellis would shut the Bulls down in the
top of the ninth and earn his second save of the season.
The Dolphins will host the Manhattan Jaspers Saturday, March 29th.
The first pitch of the double header is scheduled at noon.
