Farmville, VA - The 61st of Le Moyne College baseball opened with a 9-7 loss at the hands of Longwood University on Friday at Lancer Stadium.  With the game tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lancers (1-0) rallied for two runs to put them ahead for good. Le Moyne (0-1) was led by infielders Stephen Crawford and Matt Nandin who collected three hit each for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Crawford connected for a double on Le Moyne's first at-bat of the season. He would later score on a triple by Chris Edmondson. Corey O'Neill would tack on another run for the Dolphins with a sacrifice fly to score Edmondson.

Le Moyne would rally for two more runs in the top of the second as Crawford would drive in Nandin and Sean Paino on a single to centerfield.  The Lancers would respond in the bottom half of the inning as they touched up Le Moyne starter Eric Beaulac for two runs on two hits.

After extending the lead to 5-2 in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Mike Brown, Longwood would string together three hits and use one Dolphin error to score four runs and gain a 6-5 lead.

The lead would not last long as Crawford once again sparked the Le Moyne attack with a double to left field. Crawford would score on a Mike Brown single to left field.  Brown would give the Dolphins a 7-6 advantage as he would come around to score on an O'Neill double to right field.

After tying the score at 7-7 in the bottom half of the sixth, the Lancers grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh.  RBI's by Casey Havers and Nick  von Gersdorff would plate the winning runs for Longwood.

Lance Harting picked up the victory for Longwood out of the pen as he pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs.  Rob Moody earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning.

Joining Crawford and Nandin with multiple hits was Mike Brown and Corey O'Neill who both collected two hits and two RBI each. Eric Beaulac struck out 10 Longwood batter in 4.1 innings, allowing three earned runs.

Le Moyne and Longwood continue their four-game series on Saturday with a double-header beginning at 1:00 PM.
