LE MOYNE DROPS 6-5 DECISION TO OHIO STATE IN TEN INNINGS; WRAP UP 60TH SEASON  OF LE MOYNE BASEBALL AT 34-19.

COLLEGE STATION, TX - The 60th year of Le Moyne College Baseball came to a conclusion on Saturday as the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Le Moyne 6-5 in 10 innings on day two of the NCAA Regional at College Station, Texas. With the loss, the Dolphins are eliminated from the tournament and wrap up the season at 34-19. Ohio State's Matt Angle drove in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning to give the Buckeyes the dramatic victory.

Ohio State touched up Le Moyne starter Eric Beaulac (Troy, NY / Troy) for one run in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Angle reached base after being hit by a pitch. Eric Fryer followed with a single to left field.  Buckeye designated hitter Jason Zoeller singled past a diving Cory O'Neill (Pittsford, NY / McQuaid Jesuit) at first base to push Angle home for the game's first run.  Tony Kennedy would drive a ball deep to right field and Mike Brown (Vestal, NY / Vestal) would make the catch as he went crashing into the wall, marking the second highlight reel catch by a Dolphin outfielder in as many days.

Le Moyne would strike back and tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the second as Chris Haynes (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius) would single up the middle and move to second on a stolen base.  O'Neill would take a Corey Luebke pitch to left field, driving in Haynes from second base. O'Neill would connect for three hits on the day and drive in three runs.

The Buckeyes would push two runs across in the bottom of the second as Beaulac struggled with his command. He would put two runners on via base on balls and OSU right fielder Angle would deliver a two-out, two-RBI single to center field pushing the Buckeye lead to 3-1.

Steve Crawford (Webster, NY / Eastridge) stepped to the plate in the top half of the third inning and drove a Luebke fastball over the left field wall for his third home run of the season.  The lead-off home run pulled the Dolphins to within one at 3-2.

The Dolphins would take their first lead of the weekend as they rallied for three runs in the top of the fourth. The inning was highlighted by an O'Neill triple to left cente rfield and Matt Nandin's (North Syracuse, NY / C-NS) safety squeeze to plate O'Neill.

The lead would be short lived as the Buckeyes' Jacob Howell deposited a 2-1 offering from Beaulac over the right field fence to plate two runs and tie the game at 5-5.

In the sixth, following a J.B. Shuck bunt single down third baseline, Steve Owens would call on Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, FL / Englewood) from the bullpen for the second straight day. Beaulac pitched five innings, allowed five runs on seven Buckeye hits and struck out two... all of his runs came with two outs.  Shuck moved to third on an errant pick-off throw to first base, but Woods would slam the door on OSU, retiring the next three batters in order by inducing three ground balls to second base.

Entering the seventh inning, O'Neill continued his hot hitting as he delivered a double to the right-center field gap. Nandin would move him over on a sacrifice bunt, but O'Neill would be strained as Luebke retired the next two in order.

In the Buckeye half of the seventh, Woods would put Angle on first with four balls and, as in the sixth inning, Angle would move to third on a Woods throwing error to first. With a runner on third and no outs, Woods would once again induce three straight ground balls to shortstop Andy Parrino and work out of a jam for the second consecutive inning.

The game would remain scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings and the Dolphins and Buckeyes would head to extra innings.  Ohio State would put two runners on base and with two outs, Angle drove a Woods pitch to left field to plate the winning run. All of the 13 runs Le Moyne allowed in the two tournament games came with two outs.

Corey Luebke earned his ninth win of the season for OSU, pitching all ten innings, allowing nine hits and striking out seven.

After starting the season at 2-13, the Dolphins rallied for a 32-6 finish and regular season and tournament championships in the MAAC.
