LE MOYNE FALLS TO TEXAS A&M ON DAY ONE OF NCAA REGIONALS AT COLLEGE STATION, TX.

POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

COLLEGE STATION, TX -   Le Moyne College, winners of the 2007 MAAC Tournament, faced Big 12 Champion Texas A&M in the NCAA Regional held at Olsen Field in College Station, Texas.  In front a spirited Aggie crowd of 5,267, the Dolphins fell to the Aggies 7-2. With the loss, Le Moyne will take on Ohio State on Saturday at 1:00 pm (CST) in an elimination game.

The Aggies jumped on the board early with two runs as Craig Stinson stroked a two-RBI single to right field. The hit scored Ben Felter who reached first by hitting a chopper over the outreached glove of Ben Gaal (Manlius, NY / CBA) and Blake Stouffer who singled to left field.

Le Moyne would threaten in the top of the 2nd inning when the Chris Haynes (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville Manlius) would reach on a single to centerfield and Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, NY / CNS) would move to first on a sacrifice bunt attempt that was mishandled by the Aggie defense.  The rally was squandered as Sean Paino (Wappinger Falls, NY / Roy C Ketcham) and Robbie Perez (Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit Prep) were retired in order by Aggie starter David Newmann.

Blevins would settle in and held Texas A&M scoreless until the bottom of the 4th inning when the Aggies railed for three runs with two outs. Center fielder Kyle Colligan would score from second base on a Parker Dalton single to left field. The Aggies would strike for two more on Dane Carter's two-RBI single to center that plated Brian Ruggiano and Dalton.

The Dolphins would threaten once again the top of the 5th as Sean Paino lead off single up the middle and Andy Parrino (Brockport, NY / Brockport) would single to right field on a hit-and-run.  A two out walk by Mike Brown (Vestal, NY /Vestal) would load the bases for Phil St. Amant (Brockport, NY / Brockport).  Newman would retire St. Amant, but not before an errant pick off throw to second would plate Paino for the Dolphins first run.

After Blevins retired the side in order in the Aggie-half of the sixth, the Dolphins would threaten  in the top of the seventh. Parrino and Steve Crawford out connect for one-out singles. David Newmann would retire Mike Brown on a ground ball double play to retire the side and stop a would-be Le Moyne rally.

Blevins would strike out the first two batters in the bottom half of the seventh, but the inning would be remembered for Sean Paino's e catch against the centerfield wall that brought the Aggie fans to a standing ovation.

The Dolphins would great Aggie reliever Travis Starling with an RBI triple to the right field wall by pinch hitter Corey O'Neill (Pittsford, NY / McQuaid Jesuit) to plate Gaal who reached on an error by the Aggie third baseman. The O'Neill RBI pulled the Dolphins within three at 5-2.

In the eighth, Texas A&M catcher Craig Stinson would triple to right center field and after intentionally walking Luke Anders, Blevins would leave the game after pitching a solid 7 1/3 innings, allowing eight Aggie hits and striking out five.  Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, FL / Englewood) would enter the game with runs on first and third. A throwing error by St. Amant on a pitch-out plated the sixth Aggie run of the game.  Texas A&M would put their team speed to use (the Aggies stole eight bases on the night) as they executed a perfect suicide squeeze by Kyle Colligan to notch the seventh run of the game, pushing their lead to 7-2.

In the ninth, Le Moyne put two runners on base as Parrino drew a full-count walk and Crawford followed with his third hit of the evening. Texas A&M's Starling would seal the game for the Aggies when he induced Mike Brown into a game-ending double play.

The Dolphins will face Ohio State in an elimination game on Saturday.. The Buckeyes dropped a 6-5 decision to Louisiana - Lafayette on a RBI double in the bottom of the ninth.  First pitch is set for 1:00 pm.  Texas A&M will move on to face the Ragin' Cajuns on Saturday night at 7:00 pm
