LEMOYNE SWEEPS MARIST, DOLPHINS WIN GAME THREE 12-6

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Le Moyne Dolphins won game three against the Marist Red Foxes to improve their record to 20-15 overall and 14-2 in the MAAC, while Marist falls to 11-25 overall and 7-10 in conference play. The Dolphins improved their winning streak to 12 games which makes that the longest current winning streak in the nation and have won 18 of their last 20 games. 

Le Moyne started things off by pushing across one run in the top of the first on a solo home run to left field off the bat of Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal). Marist answered right back in the bottom of the inning by scoring two runs on back-to-back bases-loaded singles. The Dolphins then scored two more runs in the top of the second on a double to left field by freshman Sean Paino (Wappinger Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketchman).

The Red Foxes pushed across another run in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the game at three. The tie game would not last long when Le Moyne drove in two more runs in the top of the fourth off the bat of Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). Yet again, Marist answered right back scoring one more run in the bottom of the inning to narrow the Dolphins' lead to one run. Le Moyne never looked back, scoring four more runs in the top of the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth. Marist scratched for one run in the eight and ninth innings, but the Dolphins held on for the 12-6 victory. 

Freshman Luke Nellis (Fonda, N.Y./Fonda-Fultonville) picked up his first conference victory to move his conference record to 1-1 and his overall to 3-1. Nellis went five innings giving up four earned runs on five hits while striking out five batters. Daniel Tunison (Bath, N.Y./Bath-Haverling) pitched two scoreless innings for the Dolphins, leaving the rest of the game for sophomore Brandon Otto (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) to come in and finish things up. Otto gave up two runs on three hits, striking out one batter. 

The Dolphins return to action Tuesday, May 1st at Dick Rockwell field against the Bearcats of Binghamton.
