DIFRUSCIO DRIVES IN GAME-WINNER IN 10TH INNING

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior Aaron DiFruscio (Nepean, Ont./Merivale) drilled a pinch-hit single up the middle in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Le Moyne a 4-3 come from behind win over Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Alliance Bank Stadium. The win moves the Dolphins to 16-15 on the season and 11-2 in the MAAC. The Peacocks fall to 17-20, 7-7 in the MAAC.

Saint Peter's put the first two runs on the board with a two-out two-run double down the left field line by Dave Lewandoski in the fifth inning. The Dolphins answered in the bottom half of the fifth with a run of their own. Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) followed a Robby Perez (Miami, FL/Belen Jesuit Prep) double to plate the first Dolphin run.

The Peacocks tacked on another run on an Andy Case single to center in the top of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead. Le Moyne responded again with another run to close the gap to 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Corey O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) drilled a double to left center to plate Steve Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge) from second.

Senior Stopper of the Year candidate Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, FL/Englewood) worked out of a 7th inning jam with runners on second and third base to keep it a one run game. The Dolphins plated the tying run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI groundout by O'Neill that scored Crawford.

In the 10th, Crawford led off with his third hit of the game. Junior catcher Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) followed by successfully advancing him to second base with a sacrifice bunt. O'Neill was then intentionally walked to put runners on first and second. After a fly-out moved Crawford over to third, DiFruscio came to bat as a pinch-hitter. DiFruscio laced the first pitch up the middle to score Crawford and give the Dolphins a 4-3 win.

Woods worked 3.1 innings of relief, scattering two hits and striking out three, to pick up his second win of the season.

Le Moyne returns to action Tuesday at Binghamton at 4 p.m.
