LE MOYNE SWEEPS SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST NIAGARA 10-2, 13-1

Syracuse N.Y. - The Le Moyne Dolphins improved their conference record to 8-2 after winning both games of a Saturday doubleheader, as the Niagara Purple Eagles drop to 2-7 in the conference.

In game one, Le Moyne fell behind in the top of the third when Niagara scored the first run of the game.  The Dolphins answered back in the bottom of the third with six runs of their own, and from there they never looked back. The bottom of the third inning started with a single to right center by Robby Perez (Miami, FL/Belen Jesuit Prep). After Perez's single the Dolphins batted around in the inning, scoring six runs on seven hits.

Le Moyne then followed the third inning with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Corey O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) started the scoring in the fourth by hitting in two runs on a triple to right center. O'Neill then scored on a throwing error as he was sliding into third.  The Dolphins finished out the fourth inning with a run scoring single by Perez.

The next four innings of the game went scoreless by both teams until Steve Baldinelli led off the top of the ninth inning with a home run, which ended the scoring for both teams.

Senior Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) settled in after giving up the first run in the third inning, striking out seven batters until giving up his final run in the top of the ninth. Blevins finished the complete game with 11 strikeouts, giving up two runs (one earned) and five hits, for his third conference victory of the season.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Purple Eagles started the game off with the first run by scoring in the top on the first inning to jump out to a quick lead. Niagara's lead did not last long; in the bottom of the first Le Moyne jumped on top by scoring two runs. Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) started things off by belting a home run to center field on the first pitch he saw. They scored the second run of the inning on a double to left field by Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport)

The Dolphins then game back in the bottom of the second and posted another run to make the score 3-1, on a single up the middle by Parrino. Le Moyne continued the scoring by plating three runs in the bottom of the fourth and seven more in the bottom of the fifth. The Dolphins finished the game with 13 runs on 13 hits. St. Amant and Chris Haynes (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) each drove in three runs to lead the Dolphins attack in the second game.

Another great pitching performance by Le Moyne was led by sophomore Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y./Troy). Beaulac went the distance pitching all seven innings for the Dolphins, striking out eight batters, giving up one unearned run and only allowing three hits for the game.
