BASEBALL: LE MOYNE SWEEPS CANISIUS IN MAAC DOUBLEHEADER 9-5 & 12-4.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Le Moyne Dolphins swept the Canisius Golden Griffs in a MAAC doubleheader on Monday at the Demske Sports Complex on the Canisius College campus. The victories improve the Dolphins to 11-15 on the season and 6-2 in the MAAC; good for second place in the conference.

In game one, Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, NY/ Briarcliff) pitched seven strong innings allowing only three hits and one earned run while striking out two. With the win, Blevins moves to 3-2 on the season and improves his program-best career win total to 26.  

The Dolphins struck first in the second inning with two runs on a one-out double to right center by reining MAAC Player of the Week Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport). Le Moyne would scratch for an unearned run in the fourth inning on a Parrino single that would plate Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal). Parrino struck once more in the fifth inning with a two RBI double to center, capping off a six run rally pushing the Dolphin lead to 9-0.

The Golden Griffs rallied for one run in the eighth and three in the ninth to pull within four runs at 9-5. Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla. /Englewood) came on in relief to record the final two outs and secure the Le Moyne victory.

Game two saw the Dolphins jump out to another lead in the top of the first inning. Andy Parrino and Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y. /Cicero-North Syracuse) started the inning with singles. Phil St. Amant (Brockport, NY /Brockport) drove them in with a double down the left field line. Mike Brown (Vestal, NY /Vestal) tripled in St. Amant and Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y. /Christian Brothers Academy) capped the rally with his first of two home runs on the day.

The Dolphins struck two more times in the second on a Parrino home run to center and a RBI double by St. Amant. Le Moyne scored two in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Sophomore right hander Eric Beaulac (Troy, NY / Troy) pitched five strong innings holding the Griffs to three hits and one earned run to improve his record to 3-1 on the season.

The Dolphins return to Dick Rockwell Field on Tuesday to take on St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 pm.
