Parrino cycles as Le Moyne tops Cornell 11-8

PARRINO CYCYLES AS LE MOYNE TOPS CORNELL 11-8
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior shortstop Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) hit for the cycle to lead Le Moyne past Cornell 11-8 in a non-conference baseball game at Hoy Field on the Cornell campus. The Dolphins improve to 9-15 on the season, while the Big Red drops to 9-12.
Parrino led off the game with a home run to right field for his second home run of the season. In the third, he singled to right to put runners on first and second. Freshman Chris Edmondson (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) followed with a double down the right field line to plate Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) from second. Parrino scored his second run of the game one batter later on a sacrifice fly to right.
In the fourth, the Dolphins added three more runs on a two-run triple to right center by Parrino plating Nandin and Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and a wild pitch scoring Parrino from third. Cornell answered back with a run in the bottom of fifth to cut the Dolphins' lead to 6-2.
Le Moyne went up 8-2 with two runs in the top of the sixth. Nandin picked up his second hit of the game to put runners on first and third. Parrino completed his cycle with a double to score Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) from third. Nandin scored his third run of the game on a wild pitch. Cornell picked up a run in the seventh to cut the deficit to 8-3.
Gaal doubled to left center in the eighth to plate Brown and Nandin followed with a double down the right field line to score Gaal and give the Dolphins a 10-3 lead. The Big Red responded with two runs in the bottom half of the eighth to make it 10-5. Le Moyne closed out their scoring in the ninth with a run off a wild pitch. Cornell plated three runs in the bottom of the ninth before senior Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, FL/Englewood) induced a game-inning groundout.
Freshman Daniel Tunison (Bath, N.Y./Bath-Haverling) picked up his second victory of the season going five innings. Luke Nellis (Fonda, N.Y./Fonda-Fultonville) started for the Dolphins and went one inning. Michael Gedman (Framingham, MA/Loomis Chafee) and Adam Leduc (Beaconsfield, Quebec/Loyola) also pitched for Le Moyne. Woods earned his sixth save of the season.
