LE MOYNE BASEBALL OPENS HOME SCHEDULE WITH FAIRFIELD SERIES
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College Dolphins open their first home weekend series against the Fairfield Stags. Le Moyne (6-14, 2-1 MAAC) is coming off a weekend series against Rider in which they took two out of three games, while Fairfield (4-10, 3-0 MAAC) is coming off of a three game sweep of Niagara.
Heading to the mound for the Dolphins in game one on Saturday will be senior Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) who is looking to break the career Division I strikeout record at Le Moyne. Blevins, with 240 strikeouts, only needs one to break the record previously set by 2003 Le Moyne graduate Brian Mattoon. Going into the game Blevins has posted a record of 1-2 with a 4.35 earned run average. He also has 25 strikeouts in 33.0 innings pitched.
Starting things off in game two will be the right handed sophomore Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y. /Troy). Beaulac has a record of 1-1 with a 1-0 conference record and an earned run average of 5.25. Beaulac has been able to strikeout 20 batters in 24.0 innings while also holding opposing hitters to a .238 batting average.
For game three Le Moyne is sending sophomore Brandon Otto (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). Otto is looking to get things going this weekend in Syracuse, searching for his first win of the season.
Leading the way offensively for the Dolphins is junior shortstop Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y. /Brockport) and junior third baseman Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge). In 20 games, Parrino has put a .388 batting average with nine runs batted in and 10 runs scored. Crawford also playing strong has a batting average of .321 with eight runs batted in and 15 runs scored. Crawford also leads the team in stolen bases with 10. The big bat for the Stags this weekend is junior outfielder Peter Allen. Allen is leading the team in batting average at .415 and also leads the team in runs batted in (13) and runs scored (12).
