DOLPHINS RALLY TO DEFEAT RIDER IN 10 INNINGS IN MAAC OPENER, BLEVINS TIES ALL-TIME STRIKEOUT MARK

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Le Moyne plated two runs in the top of the 10th inning to defeat Rider University 6-4 in 10 innings in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference season opener for both teams. The win improves the Dolphins to 3-13 on the season, while Rider drops to 2-11.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI groundout by junior Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) to plate Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge). Le Moyne added two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead. After a leadoff double by junior Robby Perez (Miami, FL/Belen Jesuit Prep), Crawford singled up the middle to score Perez. Two batters later, Parrino singled to right field to drive in Crawford.

The Broncs got to senior right-handed pitcher Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) in the eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Senior Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, FL/ Englewood) allowed a two-out single before recording a strikeout to end the Broncs rally.

Sophomore Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y./C-NS) singled down the left field line to score freshman Sean Paino (Wappinger Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) from second base with the tying run.

Senior catcher Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) opened the tenth inning with a single to right field, Corey O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) reached on an error and Chris Altieri (Miami, FL/Belen Jesuit Prep) singled to load the bases with no outs for the Dolphins. Sophomore Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) followed with a walk to plate Alex Del Valle (Miami, FL/Columbia) with the eventual game-winner. Perez flew out to right to tack on an insurance run for the Dolphins.

Blevins recorded eight strikeouts, while yielding seven hits in 7.2 innings. His eight strikeouts gives him 240 for his career, tying him with Brian Mattoon '03 for first place on the program's Division I all-time strikeout list.

Woods recorded six strikeouts in 2.1 innings pitched to pick up his first victory of the season.

Le Moyne and Rider return to action tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
