Bowling Green deals Le Moyne baseball 7-1 setback, Matt Nandin registers two hits

BOWLING GREEN FLYS PAST DOLPHINS 7-1, FALCONS TOP LE MOYNE IN OPENER AT BALL STATE TOURNAMENT

MUNCIE, Ind. - Josh Dietz went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to lead Bowling Green past Le Moyne at the Ball State Tournament. Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had two of Le Moyne's six hits. The Dolphins (2-11) meet Ball State on Saturday while Bowling Green (9-5) squares off with Evansville.

Bowling Green scored two runs in the third and knocked Le Moyne starter Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) out of the game with four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Blevins struck out five in four and 1/3 innings of work, but was touched up for six earned runs and nine hits.

Le Moyne scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior catcher Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) led off with an opposite field double to right center. He moved up on a groundout and scored on Corey O'Neil's (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid) sacrifice fly.

Freshman southpaw Michael Gedman (Framingham, Mass./Loomis Chaffee) allowed one run on three hits in three and 2/3 innings in relief of Blevins. Sophomore Al Ondrako (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) pitched a perfect ninth.

Bowling Green starter Tyler Johnson allowed one run on six hits in eight innings of work. He struck out five and walked two en route to his third win of the season.
