CHARLOTTE FINISHES OFF FOUR-GAME SWEEP OF
LE MOYNE BASEBALL 7-2
CHARLOTTE, N.C.
- Kris Rochelle had two hits and scored two runs to lead Charlotte
to a 7-2 baseball win over Le Moyne in a non-conference game at
Winthrop University. The 49ers (14-3) completed a four-game series
sweep of Le Moyne (2-10).
Freshman designated hitter Chris Edmondson (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) belted his first career home run as Le Moyne hopped out to a 2-1 lead with runs in the top of the first and second inning off Charlotte starter Zach Rosenbaum.
The 49ers rallied for two runs in the fifth inning, one in the
sixth and three in the seventh to complete the sweep. Le Moyne
starter Brandon Otto (Cicero, N.Y./C-NS) allowed
three runs on four hits in four and 1/3 innings of action. Otto
(0-3) struck out four and walked four. Freshman lefty reliever
Luke Nellis (Fonda, N.Y./Fonda-Fultonville)
allowed three runs on three hits in one and 2/3 innings and senior
closer Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood)
gave up one run on one hit over the final two innings.
Junior shortstop Andy Parrino (Brockport,
N.Y./Brockport), hitting just a shade under .400 at .396
after the team's first 12 games, had two of the five Le Moyne hits.
Le Moyne returns to action on Friday against Bowling Green in the
Ball State Tournament. The Dolphins will play three games in three
days at Ball State's home field in Muncie, Indiana.
