HAMMOND, La. - Freshman southpaw Luke Nellis (Fonda, N.Y./Fonda-Fultonville) pitched three innings of one-hit baseball to lift Le Moyne past Southeastern Louisiana 4-3 in the second game of a three game series at Alumni Field. Mike Brown (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) knocked home Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) for the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh as Le Moyne snapped a five-game slide and dealt the Lions (10-4) just their fourth setback in 14 games this season.

Chris Edmonson (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) and Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) had two hits apiece for Le Moyne. Southeastern outfielder Xavier Qualls led the Lions at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a home run, triple, two runs scored and two RBI.

The game's winning run was scored in the top of the seventh. Gaal opened the inning and reached on an error by Southeastern third baseman Casey Summerlin. After a sacrifice bunt pushed Gaal to second, Lion reliever Phil White (1-1) walked Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y./C-NS) to put runners at first and second.

Mike Brown followed, hitting a ball that appeared as if it would roll through the right side, but Southeastern second baseman Richard Imhoff made a diving stop. However, Imhoff's throw to first got past first baseman Dillon Sudduth, allowing Gaal to score all the way from second to break the 3-3 tie.

Nellis (1-0) pitched three innings of one-hit relief to earn the win for LC, while Ryan Woods pitched a perfect ninth to earn his second save of the season.

Le Moyne got on the board first in the top of the third. Gedman led off the inning with a single and scored on a single by Edmonson to put LC up, 1-0.

The Lions came right back in the bottom half of the inning. Sudduth led off the inning with a single. Qualls then hit a laser off the second level of fencing in right field. Qualls' second home run of the season put the Lions up, 2-1.

LeMoyne answered in the top of the fourth. The first three batters of the inning reached and RBI groundouts by Gaal and Corey O'Neill put the Dolphins ahead, 3-2.

Southeastern came back to tie the game up in the bottom of the fifth. Qualls drilled a triple to the base of the right centerfield fence to lead off the frame. He would later come home to score on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Frichter.

The series concludes on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. CST (1 p.m. EST).
