SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA SCORES EXTRA-INNING BASEBALL WIN OVER LE MOYNE 5-4

HAMMOND, La. - Bryan Fritcher singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the tenth to lift Southeastern Louisiana to a 5-4 win over Le Moyne in a non-conference baseball game. The Dolphins (1-5) outhit their hosts 10-7, but dropped their fifth straight. Southeastern Louisiana improved to 10-3.

Le Moyne jumped on the board in the top of the first inning. Junior shortstop Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and sophomore designated hitter Chris Haynes (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) connected for back-to-back one-out singles. With two out and runners at the corners, senior first baseman Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) knocked home Parrino to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.

The Dolphins pushed ahead 2-0 on Phil St. Amant's (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) home run to left field in the top of the sixth inning.

Southeastern Louisiana finally got to Le Moyne senior starter Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lions used a leadoff double and a Le Moyne misfire on a sacrifice bunt attempt to put their first run on the scoreboard. With one aboard, Will Lefever belted a pinch-hit home run to give the Lions their first lead at 3-2.

Southeastern Louisiana plated an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead.

Le Moyne rallied to knot the score at four in the top of the ninth. Junior Robby Perez (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) led off the inning with a single to left. Pinch-hitter Corey O'Neill (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) singled Perez to third. Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge) knocked in Perez with a groundout. Parrino singled Chris Altieri (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit), who had pinch ran for O'Neill, over to third. Haynes doubled down the left field line to score Altieri and tie the score at four. St. Amant was issued an intentional base on balls to load the bases with one out, but Le Moyne was unable to plate the go-ahead run.

Blevins struck out eight, walked three and limited the Lions to four hits in seven innings of work. Senior closer Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in two and 1/3 innings of action.
