FOG HALTS GAME, LE MOYNE BASEBALL FALLS TO LAMAR 6-1 IN FIVE INNINGS
BEAUMONT,
Texas - Lamar scored three runs in the top of the
first and a thick fog halted a Le Moyne rally and the game in the
fifth inning as the Cardinals won the series opener 6-1. Junior 3B
Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Eastridge) recorded two hits for Le
Moyne (1-3). Game two of the series at Lamar (7-3) has been pushed
back to a 5 p.m. start (local time) tomorrow.
After the hosts jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, the
Dolphins put their only run of the game on the board in the top of
the fourth inning by stringing together a pair of hits. After a one
out single by Phil St. Amant (Brockport,
N.Y./Brockport), Robby Perez
(Miami,
Fla./Belen Jesuit) ripped a
two-out double down the right filed line. St. Amant scored from
second.
The Cardinals answered with an unearned run in the bottom of the
fourth and added to their lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of
the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth inning, Le Moyne plated one run and had
the bases loaded with none out when the game was halted due to poor
visibility.
