INAUGURAL BLACK LIGHT GRAFFITI DANCE SPONSORED BY
STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE RAISES OVER $4,000 FOR THE
MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION.
SYRACUSE, NY – The Le Moyne College Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee (SAAC) sponsored the inaugural Black Light Graffiti Dance
on Saturday, March 29th on the Le Moyne College campus. With
hundreds of Le Moyne student in attendance, SAAC raised $4,071.05
to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
One week prior to the event, Le Moyne College student-athletes sold
t-shirts featuring the Make-A-Wish logo which served as the means
for admission to the dance. In this time, student-athletes sold
over 400 t-shirts. In the process, SAAC members educated the Le
Moyne community on the importance of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and
how they can partake in granting wishes to children with
life-threatening conditions.
“The dance turned out to be very successful and we had a
tremendous turnout and not just from student athletes, but the
entire Le Moyne community, said junior Damani Corbin (men’s
basketball). “I am ecstatic to know that we have raised over
$4000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
"This event exemplifies why Le Moyne is such a great college and
demonstrates the positive impact the principles of a Jesuit
education have when put into action,” said Associate Athletic
Director Tim Fenton. The event would have not been a success if it
were not for the help from many groups on campus.
“The success of this event was directly attributed to the
support our SAAC received from our campus community ranging from
the student-athletes, the student body, LSPB (Le Moyne Student
Programming Board), the Office of Student Development, Campus
Security, the Physical Plant and the Department of Athletics."
Comprised of 32 Le Moyne student-athletes, the Student Athlete
Advisory Committee is designed to enhance the overall
student-athlete experience by promoting opportunities and
experiences for student-athlete development, protecting
student-athlete welfare, fostering a positive student-athlete image
and organizing community service initiatives.
