Indianapolis, Ind. – The Le Moyne College men's basketball team has been selected to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championships for the 12th time and will host the NCAA Division II East Regional, as announced by the NCAA Men's Basketball Selection Committee on Sunday night on NCAA.com. The top-seeded Dolphins will face eighth-seeded Merrimack College in the regional quarterfinals on Saturday at Ted Grant Court.
Le Moyne, which will be appearing in its first regional since 2014, will be hosting the regional for the third time and for the first time since 1969.
The remaining quarterfinal matchups in the East Region feature second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University taking on seventh-seeded Southern Connecticut State University, third-seeded The College of Saint Rose facing sixth-seeded Bloomfield College and fourth-seeded Saint Anselm against fifth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College. Saint Anselm captured the Northeast-10 Conference Championship over Southern New Hampshire, Bloomfield won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship over Dominican College and St. Thomas Aquinas claimed the East Coast Conference title in overtime over Molloy. The Le Moyne-Merrimack winner will face the Saint Anselm-St. Thomas Aquinas winner in the regional semifinals on Sunday, while the Southern New Hampshire-Southern Connecticut State winner and the Saint Rose-St. Thomas Aquinas winner will square off in the other semifinal on Sunday. The semifinal winners will play for the regional championship on Tuesday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m.
The starting times for the games on Saturday and Sunday will be announced on Monday. Ticket and broadcast information will also be announced early in the week.
The Dolphins enter the tournament with a record of 22-6, including wins in 18 of their last 21 games. The Dolphins, who won the Southwest Division and the top seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, went 16-4 in conference action and advanced to the Northeast-10 semifinals for the second time in four years and for the fourth time in their 21 years in the conference. The Dolphins have played eight games against the other five Northeast-10 Conference teams selected to the regional and were 5-3 in those matchups. The Dolphins won at Saint Anselm on January 10 (67-65), topped Merrimack on January 14 (80-76), defeated Saint Rose at home on February 1 (84-70) and beat Southern Connecticut State twice.
