Head women's basketball coach Jeanne Dupree enters her seventh season at her alma mater. It did not take long for Jeanne Dupree to put her mark on the Le Moyne College women's basketball program. Within two seasons, Dupree led the Dolphins to their first NCAA Women's Basketball tournament berth and its first appearance in the women's basketball Northeast-10 Conference championship game.
Dupree's Dolphins have qualified for postseason play in five of her six seasons, including a trip to the conference tournament last season.
A 1995 graduate of the college, Dupree enters the 2006-07 season with a 96-120 (.444) career record in eight seasons as a collegiate head coach and a 71-97 (.423) mark in six seasons on the Heights.
Dupree was named the third head coach of women's basketball at Le Moyne College on May 5, 2000. She replaced her former mentor Tom Cooney, who announced his retirement after 17 seasons with the program. Dupree helped lead a team picked to finish 15th in the preseason conference into a tie for sixth. Dupree made an immediate impact upon the return to her alma mater as her first season record was the best of any rookie coach in women's basketball history at Le Moyne. The Dolphins finshed over .500 for the first time in three seasons and the win total marked the highest in the program since 1994-95 (Dupree's senior season), when the team went 21-7. In her first year as head coach at the college, Dupree led the Dolphins to a 16-12 mark and the school's first Northeast-10 Conference playoff victory.
In 2001-02 Dupree led Le Moyne into its first-ever NCAA tournament. After opening the season 15-4, Le Moyne lost five of six games but rebounded for four straight wins, including three consecutive wins in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament that landed the Dolphins in the conference championship game.
Dupree returned to the Heights from Misericordia where she compiled a 25-23 mark in two seasons as head coach. In her last season at Misericordia, the Cougars went 12-11 overall and finished in fifth place in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. Prior to her stint at Misericordia, Dupree served as the assistant women's basketball coach and head junior varsity coach at Cortland State. Dupree also earned a degree and teaching certification in Physical Education from Cortland in 1997.
The Gloversville, N.Y. native started all four seasons at point guard for Le Moyne. She graduated as the school's all-time leader in assists with 302, but she saw one of her own players, Regan Burns, break that record in the 2001-02 season. Dupree, who captained the team in her senior season, also helped the Dolphins to their only 20-win seasons prior to the 2001-02 season. The Dolphins finished 20-8 in 1993-94 and 21-7 in 1994-95.
In addition to her responsibilities as head coach of the women's basketball program at Le Moyne, Dupree serves as an assistant athletic director and Senior Woman Administrator. She also serves as Director of Jeanne Dupree's Le Moyne College Girl's Basketball Camps.
Dupree will be assisted by fourth-year aide Frank Netti
(Parsons ‘68).
