Le Moyne College Director of Athletics Matt Bassett announced
Monday, Sept. 29 the hiring of Christina Plew-Whitlock as head
softball coach.
Plew-Whitlock, a two-time All-American at the University of South
Carolina, comes to Le Moyne with a vast softball background. For
the past three seasons, Plew-Whitlock has been the head varsity
softball coach at Landmark Christian School in Fairburn, Georgia.
"My family and I are excited to relocate to the great city of
Syracuse," said Plew-Whitlock. "I am thrilled to have the
opportunity to work with 21 student-athletes this season in
pursuing and achieving new goals, and more importantly, building on
a program that reflects the mission of Le Moyne College."
Plew-Whitlock began her coaching career as an assistant softball
coach at the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg for one
season upon completing college. In 2000, she was an assistant
softball coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a
Division I institution. In this role, Plew-Whitlock worked with the
pitchers, catchers and outfielders of the Lady Mocs, who earned a
bid to the NCAA Regionals after winning the Southern Conference.
Off the diamond at Chattanooga, Plew-Whitlock was responsible for
recruiting, academic oversight of student-athletes and scheduling

at Division I Mercer University in Macon, Georgia as an assistant
coach.
As a collegian, Plew-Whitlock was a four-year member of the South Carolina softball team. She was named a second-team NFCA All-American as a utility player in 1997 and third-team All-American as a catcher in 1995. Plew-Whitlock also earned all-region honors each of her four seasons, as well as All-SEC, All-SEC Tournament and SEC Academic Honor Roll in 1997. The 1997 USC squad captured the SEC Championship and advanced to the Division I Softball World Series. Plew-Whitlock is the all-time leader in at-bats (838) and doubles (57) at USC and ranks in the top-four in batting average (4th, .350), hits (3rd, 293), runs (2nd, 193), triples (2nd, 37), RBI (2nd, 172), and stolen bases (4th, 54). Her 37 career triples places her third all-time in NCAA Division I history and sixth among all Divisions.
After the end of her playing career with the Gamecocks, Plew-Whitlock spent three years with the most well-known softball players in the country as a utility player for the USA Women's Softball team. During this time, Plew-Whitlock was a member of the gold medal Pan-Am qualifying team in Columbia. She later was a member of the Durham Dragons of the Women's Professional Softball League for one season, during which time she led the squad with the highest batting average.
Plew-Whitlock is a 1997 graduate of the University of South
Carolina, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in
psychology. In 2000, she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from
