This Athletic Initiative of the Achieving New Heights Capital
Campaign is dedicated to the
future of Le Moyne College athletics, its student-athletes and
the overall student body. Its focus is the investment in capital
improvements aimed at replacing the outdated facilities that
currently serve the Le Moyne community.
These much-needed improvements encompass renovations to the Thomas
J. Niland Jr. Athletic Complex, which will serve as home to our
men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse teams and provide
opportunities for the campus through intramural and club sport
programs.
The complex will include a turf field, seating, press box,
concession stand, rest rooms and lighting. This will allow the
College to host local and regional athletic competitions on
campus.
Renovations to the Henninger Athletic Center will include space for
athletic teams, modern equipment and laundry facilities, renovated
administrative and coaches’ offices and an overall building
face-lift.
The College has enjoyed unprecedented growth in its athletics
program and this initiative will make the necessary improvements to
better serve our 16 athletic teams, media and fans who support
Dolphin athletics.
TED GRANT COURT RENOVATION
The Le Moyne volleyball and basketball teams will take the
floor next fall on a court with a brand new look. The athletic
department unveiled the new court design for Ted Grant Court
featuring the program’s new logo. The design also features an
extended 3-point line for men’s basketball as well as a pair
of Northeast-10 (NE-10) logos in the paint.
The newly designed court features the athletic
department’s primary logo on center court. In an expanded
baseline that fades from black to green, the words ‘LE
MOYNE’ and ‘DOLPHINS’ are displayed in bold
lettering on either end line. Additionally, the words ‘GRANT
COURT’ have been added on each side of mid-court.
Beginning in the 2008-09 men’s basketball season, the 3-point
line will be moved back 12 inches from 19-feet-9-inches to
20-feet-9-inches. The NCAA men’s basketball rules committee
approved the measure in May, 2007.
On the tennis court, a new dynamic windscreen has recently be installed next to the enterance gates. This banner features the 'Le Moyne Tennis' logo on a black and green background.
