EDUCATING THE WHOLE PERSON, FOR LIFE
The Jesuit educational tradition is alive and well at Le Moyne College, one of only 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States.
Le Moyne’s commitment to the Jesuit principle of care for the individual guarantees that you’ll never be just another name in a computer database. You’ll be recognized and supported for who you are – and for who you can become. And you’ll be welcomed into an inclusive learning community.

The Le Moyne College Mission
Le Moyne College is a diverse learning community that strives for academic excellence in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition through its comprehensive programs rooted in the liberal arts and sciences. Its emphasis is on education of the whole person and on the search for meaning and value as integral parts of the intellectual life. Le Moyne College seeks to prepare its members for leadership and service in their personal and professional lives to promote a more just society.

Le Moyne ranked “One of America’s Best Colleges”
For the 16th year in a row, Le Moyne College has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s “Best Colleges” and “Best Values” based on its academic quality. According to the 2008 issue of “America’s Best Colleges” guidebook, Le Moyne College placed #5 for “Best Value” of Universities (Master’s) and #19 for “Best College” in the North. The College was rated on its academic reputation, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

Enrollment
Le Moyne College has an enrollment of approximately 2,300 undergraduate students and 800 students pursuing graduate work.

Campus Life
Academic success often goes hand-in-hand with participation in a variety of extracurricular activities. The wide range of clubs, organizations, and activities on campus is another expression of Le Moyne’s commitment to “educating the whole person.” An extensive roster of clubs and organizations is only the beginning.
Special events: concerts, theatrical performances, dances, first-run films, and stand-up comics are a regular part of the calendar. Le Moyne students also participate in such annual campus events as Dolphy Day, Spring Olympics, and Winter Weekend.

Degree Programs
Le Moyne offers more than 700 courses leading to Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees in 29 different majors. Le Moyne also offers master’s degrees in business administration, teaching, general education and physician assistant studies. A master’s degree and certificate of advanced study are available in educational leadership, and master’s degrees and post-master’s certificate programs in nurse education and nurse administration are also offered.

History
Le Moyne College, located in Syracuse, N.Y., is Central New York’s only Jesuit college. Situated on a picturesque 160-acre campus, Le Moyne was founded in 1946, the second youngest of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S and the first to open as a co-educational institution.

Faculty
Le Moyne employs approximately 300 faculty. It maintains a 13-1 ratio of students to faculty, fostering personal attention to the individual student.

Commitment to Service
In keeping with the Jesuit tradition of integrating learning and service, Le Moyne encourages students to participate in local, national and world service opportunities through community service days, regular outreach programs and an Alternative Break program that sends students to areas of need throughout the U.S. and abroad.

In response to a vital part of the Le Moyne College mission statement, student-athletes are actively involved in their communities. An energized Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) has led the charge to connect the campus and local community through programming that benefits a number of worthwhile organizations. In 2005-06, the Northeast-10 Conference raised more money for the Make-A-Wish program than any other Division II
conference in the country.

Student-Athlete Advisory Council
The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is a student-run program whose mission is to engage the community with programming that further drives the College’s mission. With representatives from each team, SAAC is comprised of four sub-committees that focus on community outreach, campus outreach, career development and student-athlete experience.

Learning
The Le Moyne experience is about learning in the classroom, on the field of play and through the overall experience of being a student-athlete. In the past two years, 64 Le Moyne student-athletes earned conference all-academic honors in their respective sports. In 2003, Le Moyne received the USA TODAY-NCAA Academic Achievement Award for the highest graduation rate in Division II (92%). Le Moyne College’s student-athlete graduation rate for the 2000-01 cohorts was 88%.

Balance
The student-athlete experience at Le Moyne College emphasizes a balance between athletics and academics, creating an environment that leads to total personal development.

Sportsmanship
Le Moyne student-athlete’s respect for the game and their commitment to sportsmanship has been recognized through numerous conference awards. In 2007, the women’s soccer program was awarded the Northeast-10 Conference Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season. The men’s tennis team and cross-country program have also earned the award.

Leadership program
Le Moyne has developed this program to support and assist our student-athletes who desire to have opportunities and experiences beyond the traditional academic and athletic arenas. By providing substantive programming, participation in the “L.E.A.P.” will allow individuals to develop and prepare for future career, leadership and service endeavors and successes.
