November 5, 2009

Hi everyone! So I can't believe how quickly fall ball has come and gone. We officially wrapped up our fall season with a play day at Binghamton. It was a great event that included St. Bonaventure, Binghamton and Le Moyne. Our staff was extremely pleased with how we wrapped up the season, especially overcoming the slow start that we had in our second game against the Bonnies. I thought the girls showed a lot of heart and determination, and that is going to carry us into the off season on a very high note.

We still have a lot of work to do between now and February 19th, to get ready for Stanford in the Carrier Dome, but we are definitely going to be working very hard to get better. The team is focusing on their lifting, conditioning and individual work. This will be a good chance for us to spend some one-on-one time with the players to help them improve and prepare for our spring season that will be here before you know it.

I also wanted to let you know that in the next couple weeks you will be receiving a letter from Athletic Director Matt Bassett with some exciting news about the current projects and key priorities underway in our athletic department. He will also be asking for you to consider becoming a member of the Gold Wave for the 2009-2010 year. You can support our women's lacrosse program directly by returning the pledge card from that mailing, or you can simply click here and make your gift online.

I do thank all of you that have been able to help contribute to our program both on and off the field and we look forward to the great future that lies ahead for Le Moyne College Athletics!

GO 'PHINS!

Hello Dolphin Alumni, Friends and Family!

My name is Beth Ames Hewitt and I am the new Head Women's Lacrosse Coach here at Le Moyne College. I am very excited to be back in the Central New York area after being gone for a number of years between heading down south to play lacrosse for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then out to Oregon where I worked as an assistant coach. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of not only a great lacrosse program but also wonderful community here at Le Moyne College.

To update you as to what is going on with our program, we just hired two new assistant coaches in Ryan Lynn and Lauren Vitkus. Ryan played goalie at the University of Buffalo and then went on to coach at Buffalo State where he was an assistant for the women's team. Lauren is a recent graduate of Brown University where she was team captain and an All-Ivy player. Both are going to bring a significant amount of energy and experience to the Le Moyne women's lacrosse team and have already begun to put their own mark on our program.

As for the team they are back on campus and definitely excited about the start to the new season. We held our first practice on Monday (September 14th) where we had an intrasquad scrimmage and as a coaching staff we were very happy about the level of competition that the girls brought to the field! As a Dolphin family member, fan or friend of the program, we are all in for a very exciting year!

I did want to make sure all the alumni are aware that the weekend of September 25-27 is Homecoming Weekend. Our team has scheduled an alumni game between the former team members and current team members for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday the 26th right here at the athletic complex. I would love to get as many alumni as we can as it will be a great chance for some of our older Dolphins to connect with some of our newer Dolphins!

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about homecoming weekend.

Sincerely,
Beth Hewitt
Head Women's Lacrosse Coach
